Prospective Participants

SJCHA currently has no open Housing Choice Voucher Program Wait Lists.

How to Apply

SJCHA has no open Housing Choice Voucher Program Wait Lists.

For applicants who submitted electronic applications during the February 21-23, 2023 opening, the process of certifying the priority preferences has been completed. SJCHA accepted only 500 applications based on the forecasted number of applications that could be processed in a two-year period. The application selection was done by lottery based on preferences.

You may check the status of your application at www.waitlistcheck.com. You will need the login information you created when submitting your application. SJCHA does not have access to this information. If your status is active, your application was selected. If your status is inactive, your application was not selected. If your status is hold, your application has reached the top of the waiting list and is going through the approval process. SJCHA will not give status information over the phone or through email.

If your application was accepted, you must submit in writing any contact information changes. When your application comes to the top of the waitlist, you will be contacted by mail and you will be required to provide proof of income, assets, allowances, and household composition.

If your application was not added to the 2023 waitlist, you are welcome to reapply when the waitlist reopens, likely in 2025. The reopening will be announced on this website as well as in the South Bend Tribune.
